Worcester Victorian Market and Christmas Fayre
This is the first time we have visited the Worcester Victorian Market and Christmas Fayre, but it won’t be our last.
We didn’t have much time to spend at the Christmas Victorian Fayre. Unlike some of the other markets the Victorian Fayre at Worcester is held on only one weekend of the year; normally the first weekend in December. We visited for a couple of hours late in the afternoon on Sunday, but left a bit earlier than we planned as it started to rain whilst we were there.
The Christmas Fayre at Worcester features a funfair (including old and new rides), an indoor craft market and a large traditional market spread around the city centre.
There is also a full entertainment programme including school choirs, bands, Morris Dancers and many more. Our children enjoyed joining in with the Shadow puppet show.
Car parking is expensive. We parked in the Cathedral car park (NCP) which cost £5 for less than two hours parking, which would increase to £8.20 for two to four hours. Even with that one of the lifts wasn’t working, although there is a toilet in the shopping centre which is convenient if the lift was working. The sign outside the car park claims it is much cheaper, but that is only if you spend money in the shopping centre adjoining the car park and even then only for three hours parking. I’m not sure if the council car parks are cheaper, but there is a park and ride which would certainly be worth considering if staying for more two hours (still a small saving for less than two hours if travelling on a group ticket).
We didn’t get to spend much time on this visit, but we enjoyed the time we did, and hope to spend more time at the Victorian Christmas Fayre next year.
