Moving House

Well we managed to move in the end, so goodbye Coventry and hello Redditch. Most of the furniture is still flat packed, and all the rooms are full of boxes, but we are getting there. Here are a few of the companies that we used:

Estate Agent in Coventry – Wiglesworth

Wiglesworth were really good at the start, but the house failed to sell. We dropped the price a few times (perhaps it was over priced when it went on the market), so it took a long time to sell. We have lots and lots of viewings some of which we did (evenings and weekends), and some they showed around (weekdays and Saturdays). In the end we got a buyer and the estate agent were very good at making sure that it went through to a sale, despite many hurdles in the way.

No major complaints, although some estate agents sold nearby houses much quicker.

Solicitor in Redditch – Kerwoods

No complaints about the solicitors. They appeared to be sloping their shoulders at one point saying it was down to the buyers solicitor, but those were resolved eventually. Sale went through OK in the end and they were very helpful during the last couple of weeks.

Removal Firm in Redditch – TRS Removals

I chose TRS because of one thing, the price. They were about half the price of the other quotes I’d requested!
The lorry was an hour late on the day, but it wasn’t a major issue as we were out on time, and at the new house before the other people had moved out.

In the end I was very happy with the removal firm as they were very persistent. We had a problem getting the Sofa into the house. Although it looked like they may give in at one point they managed it in the end, so for that alone I’m very happy.

The whole process of selling our old house and buying a new house was very stressful, but we got there in the end. I’ve no plans to repeat it again for quite some time.
