Google Pack now includes Star Office available as a free download

I’ve previously mentioned I’m a big fan of the OpenOffice.org Office Suite. It is open source and provides all the main features of an office suite absolutely free. Potentially saving hundreds of pounds compared with the equivalent alternative from Microsoft.

OpenOffice.org however started out as a commercial office suite known as Star office. When SUN handed over most of the code for star office to allow Open Office to be developed some parts of the program were kept back due to licensing / intelectual properies issues. They continued to offer Star Office as commercial software.

Google now provide Star Office as a free download with the Google essential software pack.
