Perhaps a rather unusual thing to have in common, but there’s more as the Abbey Pumping Station which was responsible for pumping Leicester’s sewage is now Leicester’s […]

We visited Ducky’s Farm Park during our family holiday at Heysham, near Morecambe, but it is actually much closer to the Haven Lakeside caravan park at Flookburgh / Grange-Over-Sands; in fact it’s on the same road as the Haven site. Ducky’s is more along the lines of a commercialised children’s farm than the more traditional […]

Morecambe is a seaside resort in Lancashire between Blackpool and the Lake District. We visited Morecambe recently during our family holiday at Heysham Ocean Edge caravan site. On the first day we visited, as we first entered Morecambe it looked like a seaside resort that has closed down. The Frontierland theme park is now a […]

As my children are big fans of Thomas The Tank Engine we have visited Thomas Land at Drayton Manor on several occasions. There is so much to do within Thomas Land that we do not normally have much time to spend exploring the rest of Drayton Manor theme park. We’d been looking for an opportunity […]

I have many childhood memories of visiting Scarborough on holiday so it was with a little nostalgia that we visited for a day this Summer. Scarborough is an example of a traditional British seaside town which has managed to move with the times whilst keeping much of it’s original character and attractions from my youth. […]

We recently went on a family holiday to Butlins Minehead with our two children aged 2 and 6. We had a very active holiday and a great time. There was lots to do and the kids particularly enjoyed meeting the characters and the special character meal. This is our second visit to a Butlins site […]

Umberslade Farm Park is located in Tanworth-in-Arden, Warwickshire. A short distance from Solihull and Redditch. The farm was formally known as Umberslade Children’s Farm, but was relaunched during May 2010. We went along on the relaunch weekend. There were a few additional features which I think were only running for the relaunch weekend, including bouncy […]

In the past I have taken a baby on a day out on a steam train at both the Severn Valley and Howarth and Keithley and Worth Valley Railways. Although we had a good day out in the past it was hard work having to accommodate the needs of a baby such as feeding, changing […]

This is the follow on from my earlier post Stranded half-way around the world due to disruption to UK flights from Iceland Volcano. I was in India on business when the volcano in Iceland left tens of thousands of people stranded all around the world. Fortunately my company backed me up on my quest to […]
